About Memory Foam Mattresses Toppers and Pads

The Traditional Memory Foam Mattress Topper and Pad
A memory foam mattress topper is constructed from two different types of premium high-density visco elastic foams, Reflex and Sensus. These latex foams are produced using a patented Variable Pressure Foaming process. This process creates uniformly high quality memory foam that stand up to loads over a wide range of conditions. Sensus memory foam is the latest generation of this process. It has a finer, more luxurious cell structure that is fluidly responsive to a broader range of temperatures than other viscoelastic foam products. The result is a memory foam mattress topper or pad that provides a smoother more gradual shift in firmness which effectively isolates the sleeper from resistance to movement.
The Talalay Natural Latex Foam Mattress Pad
The talalay latex foam mattress topper represents a further advance in foam technology. Talalay latex foam is a natural rubber product. It has the ability to conform to the body without ever taking a body impression. This means that it rebounds back to its original shape immediately as weight is removed. As a result, it more evenly distributes body weight and is more naturally resilient than any other sleep surface in the world. Talalay latex foam can be manufactured with an open cell structure that creates superior ventilation and airflow; beyond even that of coil spring mattresses. The qualities of natural latex coupled with the extreme purity of the manufacturing process ensure that talalay latex foam products are anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and anti-allergenic. As a result, not only is a talalay latex mattress pad the most comfortable sleep surface in the world, it is the ideal product for the allergy sufferer. It also lasts over three times as long as conventional foam products.
Foam Mattress Pad Construction
Each type of foam mattress topper is offered in differing weights, sizes and foam densities. The density of memory foam is expressed in the weight of a cubic foot of foam. This site offers memory foam toppers in three different weights, 3lb., 4lb., and 5lb. A 3lb. topper is a "soft" topper, the 4lb. is a moderate firmness topper, and the 5lb. topper is a "firm" topper. These toppers come in 2in., 3in. and 4in. thicknesses. The density of a talalay natural latex topper is measured using a standard testing process that measures ILD (Indentation Load Deflection). Basically, a low ILD is "soft" while a higher ILD is "firm". We offer natural talalay latex toppers in four different firmnesses, 14ILD, 19ILD, 28ILD, and 36ILD. The 14ILD is the "softest" while the 36ILD is the "firmest". These talalay natural latex toppers come in 0.9", 1.9" and 2.8" thicknesses. Foam mattress pads come in Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, Eastern King and California King sizes.
Selecting a Foam Mattress Topper
When selecting a foam mattress topper or pad, a buyer needs to consider sleep preferences, price and the condition of the existing sleep surface. Talalay latex is more comfortable than memory foam. It is also more expensive. If you like a firm sleeping surface, select a high weight memory foam or a high ILD talalay latex foam mattress topper. If your sleep surface is in bad shape, choose a thick mattress topper. If it is in good condition, you can choose a thinner one. Note that if thickness is an issue, a talalay latex mattress topper provides greater support with less thickness (e.g. a 0.9" talalay latex topper provides about as much support as a 2" memory foam topper).
